Try Mama’s fish tacos – blackened tilapia with grilled red bell pepper, poblano and jalapeno, topped with Southwestern creamed corn, avocado and bacon. Finally, the Baja Beer Battered Fish Taco is the stuff of dreams if the title doesn’t tell you all you need to know, this taco also crams in Snapa slaw, lime crema, avocado smash and micro greens on a corn tortilla El Norte Mexican GrillĮ l Norte Mexican Grill describes themselves as “Tex-Mex meets Southwest” with decor that “makes you think you are dining in a quaint village town in Mexico.” Everything they serve is made fresh daily in-house even the meat is never frozen. The Grilled Fresh Catch featured whatever the catch of the day is with guajillo marinade, red cabbage salad and lime-ette on a corn tortilla. The Del Mar Shrimp taco consists of shrimp, mango, napa slaw and avocado smash on a flour tortilla. You get to mix and match tacos, two for $13 or three for $17 (don’t worry, they’re well-sized!) We suggest the latter option, so you can try each of the three signature fish tacos that this new Plano staple has to offer. And the shrimp can be grilled upon request! Negra Modelo beer battered jumbo shrimp are melded with pickled cabbage, avocado, micro cilantro & roasted jalapeño-lime salsa. The Baja shrimp variation is also a worthy contender from the menu. For those with more pescatarian taste, the sea bass tacos pack in grilled Chilean sea bass, chile guajillo rub, pickled cabbage, avocado, chile morita remoulade & micro cilantro on house-made flour tortillas. The Artisanal Street Tacos from Mi Dia are every bit what their name implies. There’s also the dynamite shrimp taco, topped with slaw, jalapeno ranch, avocado and sriracha. Shrimp lovers can try the baja shrimp taco: all the same ingredients, sub the fish for either grilled or crispy shrimp. Their seafood options include a classic fish taco, with grilled or tempura battered cod, baja sauce, red cabbage and cilantro. Rusty Taco is also very affordable, at just under $3 for a decently sized taco. Their tacos are stuffed full – one of my favorites, the black bean taco, comes with a second corn tortilla to catch all the lime juice and cotija cheese that slip through the cracks of the first one.
